The marketing funnel is one of the most popular ways of analyzing a user’s path from initial contact to becoming a paying and satisfied customer. You can also understand it as a visual representation of your Conversion process – a set of actions that a user has to perform in order to trigger a conversion for a given goal.

The visualization of the Funnel in web analytics typically shows the number of people at a particular stage. Those stages are:

  1. Reach (also: Awareness)
  2. Acquisition
  3. Conversion
  4. Retention
  5. Loyalty
