Piwik PRO Keeps Expanding, Raises $2 Million

We have some exciting and electrifying news! On Monday, March 20, 2017, we raised $2 million in a Series A Funding Round. Warsaw Equity Group (WEG), a Polish-based venture capital and private equity investment company, led the round which also included a private investment from Tim Schumacher, co-founder and former CEO of Sedo.com.

“There is a huge need for privacy-friendly analytics and marketing technology, and Piwik PRO is uniquely positioned in the market to capture this need. It is a great company, with a great team,” said Tim Schumacher who is also the Chairman of Eyeo, the company behind Adblock Plus.

If you’ve been following the news, this shouldn’t surprise you, as the demand for more comprehensive marketing technology solutions in this era of sensitive data and strict privacy regulations is growing rapidly. As data becomes more and more sensitive, as new laws and regulations (such as the GDPR) are being introduced, both enterprises and public entities are looking for web analytics and marketing solutions to provide 100 percent data ownership and privacy compliance.

And our commitment to those two fundamental issues (data ownership and privacy compliance) is precisely what Tim Schumacher points to, when explaining why he chose to invest in Piwik PRO:

“The web shouldn’t be full of 3rd-party hosted trackers. Neither for web site analytics, nor for marketing or optimization analytics. They slow things down, they infringe users’ privacy, and they are a major security risk. Piwik PRO is on a mission to fix this problem.

That’s why I have invested into Piwik PRO, and why I can wholeheartedly recommend Piwik PRO, if you want your web site to truly own your data.”

On the other hand, Michał Kolata, Investment Manager from Warsaw Equity Group pointed out “the company’s strong corporate culture and product execution, combined with its potential for significant growth and profitability” and to company’s experience in “building custom advertising and marketing software for the enterprise”.

This is one of the largest investments in the region to date and we’ll use it to accelerate development of Piwik PRO’s comprehensive marketing technology stack, which includes web and mobile analytics, a data management platform, tag management, and content personalization. More importantly, it’s a definitive acknowledgment of our priorities to provide 100 percent data ownership and privacy compliance to any enterprise or organization. We take pride in doing so, and it’s even more rewarding when our efforts are being recognized.

Maciej Zawadzinski CEO Piwik PRO

“Over the years, we’ve seen great traction with enterprises using our on-premises enterprise web analytics product. The financing will allow us to allocate additional resources to execute our vision and product development,” said Maciej Zawadzinski, CEO.

We are thrilled about the news and the praise. It validates the hard work we have put into the growth of the company and the product as well as our plans for the future. But, most importantly, it motivates us to continue on the road of commitment, innovative thinking and developing solutions to address the growing need for privacy-compliant marketing and advertising software.
